GPs Prescribing Mounjaro (Weight Loss Injections)
You might have heard in the news that weight loss injections can be prescribed by your GP from June. Whilst this is true, the criteria to qualify is very strict.
From the 13,000 patients registered with us at Donnington Medical Partnership only a very small group of patients will qualify.
To avoid disappointment and wasted appointments, please check your eligibility below before contacting us to discuss Mounjaro:
Checklist:
Your BMI must be above 40. You can check your BMI here if you know your height and weight. We will check your height and weight at your appointment, so it must be accurate.
As well as a BMI over 40, you must have a confirmed diagnosis of at least four out of the following five health conditions:
• Hypertension (high blood pressure) needing medication
• Sleep apnoea (confirmed at a sleep clinic)
• Type 2 diabetes
• Cardiovascular disease (heart disease, vascular disease or stroke)
• Hypercholesterolaemia (high cholesterol)
If you do not meet all of these criteria, we will not be able to prescribe you Mounjaro for weight loss under the current guidelines.
Please do not contact us to discuss Mounjaro if you do not meet the criteria. If you would like to discuss other weight loss options please contact reception to arrange a routine appointment in the usual way.
Many thanks,
Donnington Medical Partnership
